Danny & Debra Wunder - Keter Shem Tov Award

Danny and Debra Wunder moved to West Hempstead in 2011 and felt immediately welcomed by Anshei Shalom and the West Hempstead community. Soon after they arrived in the neighborhood the Wunders had their third daughter and were inundated with meals and congratulations from total strangers. Danny and Debra felt quickly at home at Anshei and those strangers have now become close friends.

Danny became deeply involved in the Building Fundraising Committee, using his analytical and communication skills to help Anshei reach its fundraising goals. He has also served on the shul’s nominating committee and is currently one of the Gabbais in the main minyan. Danny is always quick to lend a hand with things like building the benches in the shuls courtyard and generally wherever there is a need.

Debra is an active member of the West Hempstead community, serving and helping wherever she is needed. She is a continual volunteer for the Sisterhood bake sale, cooks for the Sisterhood chessed team, volunteers for youth events and served as a troop leader the local Girl Scout troop for 2 years. Debra is also involved in the community as the current Vice President for the HANC PTA and a member of the HANC Board of Education.

Danny and Debra are proud parents of their gaggle of girls: Abigail, Shayna, Aliza and Shira who attend HANC 609 and HANC ECC. Danny is a Product Manager for Cox Automotive Inc. in North Hills. Debra is a speech language pathologist for the New York City Department of Education at P75Q, a school for students with special needs.

Danny and Debra share: “We want to thank Rabbi and Rebetzin Soniker and the entire Anshei family for welcoming us as part of their own. We really do feel we are part of a “Wunder-ful” community and family. We know the friends we have here are there for us in both good times and times of need. We hope to continue to help Anshei Shalom and West Hempstead be a friendly and thriving community where people are made to feel as welcome and comfortable as we have felt.”
