Dan & Sandi Lev - Hakarat Hatov Award

Dan and Sandi Lev have called West Hempstead home since 2001. Sixteen years later they still marvel at the cohesive nature of their beloved neighborhood. The diverse group of people they call friends and neighbors, the respect for that diversity within the community, and the tremendous respect for all the rabbanim of the neighborhood are just some of the traits they believe have helped shaped West Hempstead into a unique neighborhood.

Both have given generously of their time to Anshei. Dan is a continuous presence on the bimah, davening for the amud throughout the year and is a much adored chazan during the Yamin Noraim. Sandi has dedicated much of her free time to Anshei over the years. She served as Sisterhood co-president for one term and served on the Anshei Executive Board under three successive presidents, during which time she coordinated the ballroom calendar. Most recently, Sandi joined the Anshei CSS team in 2016 in memory of her grandfather who helped instill in her the value of community service. “When my grandfather passed away I wanted to take on something meaningful in his memory.  My grandfather was extremely concerned about the sanctity of life and was extraordinarily proud to be a Jew.  He would have been among the first to volunteer for CSS, an organization founded to proactively protect Jews and the Jewish way of life.  I am honored to be part of the Anshei team and am very grateful for the leadership, training, and friendship CSS LI, and particularly my team at Anshei, has provided to me.”

Professionally, Dan is the treasurer for a nursing home company and Sandi is the  Early Childhood Learning Coordinator at Shulamith and a personal trainer at Fitness by Norma. They are parents to three wonderful children: Gavriel, Meira, and Adina.
