Shana & Yisroel Weiss

Anshei Shalom is proud to present this year’s Hakarat Hatov Award to Shana and Yisroel Weiss. Since moving to West Hempstead in 2005, Shana and Yisroel have been active shul members, each taking on roles in shul administration, youth programs and various Sisterhood and Chessed activities. Originally attracted to the warmth and liveliness of the shul, they are continually impressed with the shul’s evolving persona, size and programs.

Shana has worked as a nursery and kindergarten morah for Yeshiva of Central Queens (YCQ) for the past 11 years, and puts her extraordinary teaching skills to work by leading the toddler youth groups every Shabbat morning. She has served on several Sisterhood committees and is an active volunteer for the Chessed Committee, often cooking for new moms or taking on other roles to help those in need of support. Among her contemporaries, she is lovingly known as a consummate friend, always offering her time and energy to help in any way she can.

Yisroel works as an Executive Director at JP Morgan Chase. An active member of the shul’s main minyan, Yisroel has put his accounting background to work by serving as Anshei Shalom Treasurer on the shul board. He continually volunteers his time whenever it is needed to help the shul.

Together with their three children: Eli, 11, Miryam, 8, and Ozzy, 6, Shana and Yisroel are proud to teach their children the importance of supporting their shul, helping where they can and giving of their time for the benefit of the community.  They view Anshei as a home away from home and look forward to continuing to raising their family in West Hempstead and to celebrating many more milestones with their Anshei family.
