Abigail Lieber - Youth Leadership Award

Abigail Lieber has been part of the Anshei family since birth. She attended the first "groundbreaking" ceremony of Congregation Anshei Shalom when construction began on the sanctuary when she was only 2 years old. Throughout her childhood, Abigail enjoyed coming to shul and attending Shabbos groups, Parent-Child Learning, and holiday events.

In 2015, she transitioned from being a child attending groups to being a Youth Department Leader. Abigail worked in the 2nd and 3rd grade girls group and the 4th to 6th grade Junior Congregation. After returning from her year in Israel, Abigail returned to groups and became the Assistant to the Youth Director. Her greatest joy has been seeing the children she guided as their group leader become leaders themselves in the Youth Department. She is amazed at how the children have transformed into responsible young adults with excellent middos, character, and dedication.

Abigail is currently a Senior at Hunter College and part of the Roosevelt Scholars program. She is majoring in Urban Studies and Jewish Studies and is passionate about Israel advocacy and civic engagement. At Hunter College, she serves as the secretary of the Hillel. She also interned for Assemblymember Michaelle C. Solages and Manhattan Community Board 11. Additionally, Abigail volunteers for the West Hempstead Community Support Association and has worked as a Poll Worker.

Abigail would like to express hakarat hatov to her family and friends that have helped her tremendously and the Dinner Committee for their tireless effort on behalf of the shul.
