Hillel & Deena Goldman - Keter Shem Tov Award

Hillel and Deena Goldman came to Anshei Shalom in 2010 as part of the first wave of the Forest Hills Aliya to West Hempstead.  They immediately immersed themselves in the Anshei culture and were moved by the Shul’s warm atmosphere, and commitment to Torah and family values.  They are humbled to be this year’s recipients of the Keter Shem Tov Award and endeavor every day to live up to the values embodied by the honor.

Hillel is one of the founding members of the Anshei Men’s Book Club and helps the community-at-large as a founding member of the West Hempstead Anti-Graffiti Task Force.  During the week, he serves as the Assistant Principal of Rambam Mesivta where he helped establish the Ohel/Rambam Chavrusah program, a Masmidim extra learning society, and the Yeshiva High School Poetry League.  He is a stalwart member of Anshei’s Main Minyan and is best known for not talking during Davening and being one of the go-to guys for the Teen Minyan when they need the first ten.

Deena is an active member of the West Hempstead community serving wherever she is needed.  She is part of the Anshei Sisterhood Board; a team captain on the Anshei Chesed Committee; a former member of the Anshei Welcoming Committee; a board member of the Mikvah Association of Nassau County and is also involved in the HANC PTA.  Deena, a practicing speech-language pathologist, has found a fulfilling career working with children for the past 10 years. She is currently a full-time employee of the New York City Department of Education in a community High School in Queens.

Together with their children, Eliana, Noah, and Ezra, the family often sends out care packages to American Soldiers fighting overseas.  They try to teach their children the value of Hakarat Hatov and instill in them a deep love for Torah, community, and Israel.

They are deeply grateful to Rabbi Pearl, Rabbi and Rebetzin Soniker and the entire Anshei family for welcoming them with such open arms.  They look forward to the continued growth of the Shul and will strive to help Anshei Shalom continue to be a home away from home to all who are fortunate enough to enter its doors.
