Sara & Moshe Mark
Sara & Moshe Mark - Keter Shem Tov Award
Moshe and Sara were introduced to West Hempstead by their good friend, Ari Kahn, A”H, in high school, while they were just dating. Warm and welcoming, they knew that West Hempstead was the place they wanted to one day call home. Wishes do come true. They have called West Hempstead home for the last 5 years.
Moshe is a purchaser for Moisha’s Supermarket, as well as a product consultant and product broker. He served on the Maimonides Parent Advisory Board, currently attends Rabbi Soniker’s twice-weekly Gemarah Shiur, and volunteers at the annual Sukkah Hop. Moshe initiated and hosts shul's annual Simchat Beit Hashoeva. He is active most often, behind the scenes, donating holiday materials to all HANC students, consulting for and creating Shul mishloach manot baskets, co-sponsoring Shavuot all-night learning, and supplying food for many Shul events.
A former nursery school administrator and teacher, Sara is a stay-at-home mom who substitutes in HANC ECC. She has served on – and spoken on behalf of – the Maimonides Parent Advisory Board. Sara served on various Shul committees for the last 4 years, joining the Shul board for the last two. As the head of the Welcoming Committee she hosted potential new families, and helped new members get acclimated. More importantly, she helped convince an influx of great new members to join.
Married for 16 years, Moshe and Sara are mostly kept busy by their 4 beautiful children – Gabrielle,14; Emily, 12; Benjamin, 10; and Jonathan, 7. The children all attend HANC, and Gabrielle and Emily are Shabbat morning Youth Groups Leaders at Anshei.
The philosopher Aristotle once opined that the essence of life was to serve others and do good. Moshe and Sara strive to live by that philosophy. They hope to continue to serve the community they feel so much a part of and do good for our Shul for many years to come.
