AFTER SUNDAY, MAY 14th -- PLEASE NOTE: Any dedication submitted after Sunday, May 14th will not appear in the dedication scroll and program handout.

Dear Friends,

The 613th commandment is the mitzvah for every individual to write a Sefer Torah. The Ksav Sofer explains that it is not sufficient for a person to observe the laws of the Torah simply because he is following the ways of his parents and ancestors. Rather, he must create his own personal relationship with G-d, based on genuine recognition and a deep appreciation of the Torah.

Throughout his leadership of over 38 years at Congregation Anshei Shalom, Rabbi Yehuda Pearl has fostered a warm and nurturing environment and inspired all of us to have a closer relationship to Hashem and a stronger connection to Torah. He has been the heart and soul of our shul, just as the Torah is the heart and soul of the Jewish people. He has dedicated his life to Torah, through his own learning, and in teaching it through his many shiurim and divrei Torah, and through his many acts of quiet chesed.

The dedication of a Sefer Torah in honor of Rabbi Pearl would be a fitting tribute to him and to all the contributions he has made to our shul and our community. Over the years and largely because of Rabbi Pearl, Anshei Shalom has gone from being a small shul with a big heart to a bigger shul with an even bigger heart. We are very excited to begin this project and look forward to everyone's participation.

As we move forward with the initiation of the writing of the Sefer Torah, we kindly ask that you contribute to this amazing opportunity, no matter how big or small.

The project will culminate in a celebratory dedication event, and we would love to have full participation.
